Ek raja ki kahaani

This is a series of scenarios which i'd done for another assignment of character design. The story basically dealt with a King's rise to power, and his realisation that he'd failed to live his life the way he'd originally intended to, and him eventually giving up his throne. Inspired by Javanese puppetry, I adopted this style of cut-out animation.

Medium: Poster colours, cello gripper ball point pen.

Stranger than Sympathy

Haven't been able to draw a guy playing a guitar uptil now, this seems to be the first!
This is based on a Goo Goo Dolls song "Sympathy", which i was listening to, while making this one.

Dunno why I did this, wasn't even in a disturbed mood!

Character Design

The colour palletes and style for the story underwent a lot of changes, this is the first attempt.

in the second one, i tried a bit of yellow at the back to increase the contrast.

Not too happy with the 2nd exploration, this one is in black white and greys, flat application.

The 3rd scenario:

Character Design Sketches

These are some of the character sketches which I'd made over the past week in our character design course. Its based on W. Somerset Maugham's short story about a servant's appointment with death in. The characters were a bit tricky 'cos there wasn't much information given about them in the story, so it left me a lot to interpret.
Showing death in its simplistic, yet mysterious form was quite challenging.

These are some of the character explorations for the servant.
